Ernie Gutierrez is the founder and chief movie critic behind Cinematic Living. While he currently calls the Phoenix, Arizona area home, he originally hails from Southern California.
Ernie’s lifelong love of movies began where so many great movie memories do: in the theater. Through regular family trips to their local movie theater, he experienced many of the defining films of the 1980s. Including Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Return Of The Jedi, Ghostbusters, Back To The Future, The Karate Kid, Rocky IV, and The Princess Bride, to name just a few. His passion was further nurtured at home, where he was introduced to classic Universal Monster movies, Abbott & Costello comedies, and vintage live-action Disney movies. What started as a childhood fascination grew into a lifelong pursuit, eventually leading him to earn a B.A. in Film and spend several years working in the film industry, where he gained an insider’s perspective he brings to his reviews today.
Beyond the movies, Ernie brings a similar enthusiasm to the rest of his life. He’s a die-hard Notre Dame fan, a loyal Anaheim Angels fan, and enjoys photography/videography, live concerts, game nights, country dancing, and discovering great places to eat. When he’s not sitting in a darkened theater, he’s usually spending time with family and friends. In many ways, Cinematic Living exists because of their support, encouragement, and nudging to share his love of movies with others.
